COVID-19 Safety Plan
- The employer (Guide Runner Education) should encourage tutors to work from their private residence if feasible, unless there is a preference on the part of the employer (Guide Runner Education), the tutor or the student/student’s parent for the tutor to work at the student’s private residence.
- A tutor who is working in a workplace other than the tutor’s private residence must ensure that the tutor has done a health check for the symptoms of COVID-19 prior to the tutoring session. Common symptoms include dry cough, sore throat, fever, chills, loss of sense of smell or taste, difficulty breathing, loss of appetite, extreme fatigue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and body aches. A more comprehensive list can be seen here. A verbal check-in, done either in person, virtually, or by phone with every worker, confirming that the worker has completed their daily health check, and a record that this confirmation was received.
- A student and their household who is to be tutored in their private residence must ensure that they have done a health check for the symptoms of COVID-19 prior to the tutoring session. Common symptoms include dry cough, sore throat, fever, chills, loss of sense of smell or taste, difficulty breathing, loss of appetite, extreme fatigue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and body aches. A more comprehensive list can be seen here. A verbal check-in, done either in person, virtually, or by phone with every student, confirming that the student has completed their daily health check, and a record that this confirmation was received.
- If the employer (Guide Runner Education) is not satisfied that a tutor or student has done a health check prior to the tutoring session, the employer must not permit the tutor to work at the student’s private residence.
- For in-person tutoring, tutors must maintain a safe physical distance from student where possible and both tutor and student must wear a mask when appropriate to do so (mask wearing is exempted for children under the age of 12). Face shields are not a substitute for a mask, as there is an opening below the mouth.
- Tutors and students should follow good hand hygiene practice by frequently cleaning hands by washing with soap and water or using hand sanitizer.
