While most education companies focus only on academic skills, we at Guide Runner believe in developing an expertise in non-academic skills, the tools that help students problem solve, grow in social and emotional awareness and become more confident. Non-academic skills include everything outside the subjects taught in school curriculums. Though often labelled as supplemental material and not formally taught, recent studies in educational theory have shown that these “soft skills” are foundational and indicators of real success. Not only are these claims backed by research, we have witnessed that our students who focus on sharpening their non-academic skills become more confident and have less anxiety in dealing with educational challenges that may lay ahead.
Our core team have achieved various certifications and have a large degree of experience related to the non-academic skills training that we can provide. While we focus on non-academic skills as part of our other services, in particular advising and school applications, we also provide specialized training on a wide variety of topics that include:
- Speech composition and public speaking
- Interviewing skills
- Organization and time management
- Studying strategies and test-taking skills
- Stress and mental health management
